About Us
The DMPOA covers the downtown Merced area. We’re committed to a safer, cleaner, and more aesthetically pleasing Downtown for all.
ERIC HAMM | Board Chairman
Dear Downtown Merced Property Owner,
It’s been over a year since property owners in the Downtown Merced District voted to approve the formation of a Property Based Improvement District (PBID). That vote set in motion the formation of a non-profit organization to operate the district overseen by a Board of Directors made up of property owners and business owners from the district as well as a representative from the City of Merced. The non-profit is now known as the Downtown Merced Property Owners Association (DMPOA).
The Steering Committee, some of whom have been working on the PBID for 5+ years, began the arduous process of legally setting up the non-profit as well as executing an agreement with the City of Merced. At their meeting on November 4th, 2024, the City Council approved an agreement between the City of Merced and DMPOA. This agreement was the final item necessary to officially be recognized by the city as a non-profit partner. The significance of that approval, in simple terms, is that we are ready to get going!
One of our top priorities is to make Downtown Merced CLEANER & SAFER. To address that, we have hired Ambassadors who will be moving around Downtown.
DMPOA Ambassadors will be pressure washing, providing trash removal, and conducting other activities to ensure our Downtown is CLEAN.
We are also providing our DMPOA Ambassadors with hospitality training to ensure guests to our Downtown feel safe and welcome.
As well, DMPOA Ambassadors will be equipped to address Quality of Life issues like discouraging panhandling, and finding housing or services for those in need.

Downtown should be THE destination for Arts, Entertainment, & Dining in Merced...if not the Central Valley! We all know that Downtown Merced is a hidden gem. Together, we hope to polish it up and share it with the rest of our community!
It is an honor to represent you. We are very excited about the positive changes in store for the future of Downtown Merced!
